Dear Fresh Step,

A word of advice. If you're trying to tell me that if I use your cat litter, my cats won't be able to find their litter box, then guess what? I'm not using your cat litter.

Love and scratches under the chin,

Tinkie

thoughts for a thursday evening
Hi hi! I had a random attack of the guilts for not updating my LJ with much these days. I'm reading, though, I promise.

There isn't much to say. I vow to make this the year that I watch So You Think You Can Dance all the way through and not stop after the audition rounds. Uhhh... my dogs are cute. School is almost over for another year. Next year doesn't bear thinking about due to the current financial situation in California, but I have a job and am therefore thankful. My dogs are still cute. Star Trek was good. My mom is retiring. I'm thinking about getting a netbook instead of a new notebook. My novel in progress is like pulling teeth. How 'bout that Scripps spelling bee, huh? Crazy.

So, how're you?

sale!
WOO, Spring sale over at Torquere Press! Over 20 print books available at 25% off, plus a lot of other e-books. What's that you say? You want a handy-dandy link to my books in particular? OKAY. :D

Tabula Rasa

Tinder

You're welcome.

Oh, and! While not on sale, I continue to be delighted with Keeping Karma's purple cover. Ferret included. I met [info]alessia_brio, the cover artist, at Romantic Times in Orlando and I stood there and babbled something lame at her about the purple awesomeness. She was nice to me, although I could see in her eyes she was thinking, "I have never before and will never again design a book cover that has a ferret on it." This is probably true, so hooray for me.

Anyway, go check out the sale of coolness and buy yourself a little something to celebrate May.

Denver airport's free wifi is made of hooray.

I forgot to tell you guys I'll be at the Romantic Times convention this week in Orlando, so if anyone's going or lives in the area, come by and say hi!

And I'll tell you what else, not for nothin' do teachers have summer vacation in which to do their traveling. Getting ready to be out of my classroom for FIVE DAYS was one of the more crazy-making things I've done. Especially since tomorrow night is Open House and then we have state testing in two weeks. You can imagine my principal's face when I told her.

She looked like this:

I pretended not to understand her expression.

Man, airport food is expensive. *eats four dollar cookies*

new!
WOO, April is a gooooooood month. Another new release for me. Summary:

How much trouble is a shiny Fiat worth? Quite a bit, if you're into Chrome. Three stories follow one hot car through its life, from Nicholas and John who celebrate their newly solvent status by buying a car, and enjoying the reclining seats, to Evan, who inherits the car from his dad, and shares the benefits with his best friend.

Finally, the now-vintage Fiat ends up with Tanner, who hopes to impress fellow car show enthusiast Billy. All of these boys have one thing in common. They love the glow, gleam and glitter of Chrome.

Chrome is available for the bargain price of only $2.49 HERE.

And guess what? Today and tomorrow, Torquere is having a wee sale, and if you buy Chrome and/or Keeping Karma, just type in RAINMEN at time of purchase for 15% off! Because it's raining men here in April, geddit? Heh.

Chrome. Keeping Karma. Buy one, buy both, get a discount. Yay April!

new book!
Yay, new release day!

Over a year ago, I wrote a story called Keeping Karma for Torquere Press' Turn of the Screw serial subscription line. It finished its chapter by chapter run in February, so now it's available for sale as a complete download. And in print, too!

Look how cute:

Thank you, [info]alessia_brio, for always being awesome with my covers.

I'm excited about this one because of the animal factor. If you've ever looked at your dog/cat/bird/bunny/snake/tortoise and wondered what they were thinking, if anything, then check this book out. Here's the official blurb off the site:

Alexander Myers and his twin sister Tabitha were born with the incredible ability to hear the thoughts of animals. )

*

Aaaaaaand because I'm nice, here's the beginning of porn. :D

Cue porn. )

*

Much thanks to Mychael Black for the favorable review. :) Keeping Karma is available for electronic download HERE and in print HERE.

And for those who were wondering, Karma was not just a figment of anyone's imagination.

Karma )

Go check this one out, for real. It's different and fun and if I had a superpower, listening to animals would be it. :)

march contest
Happy March, LJ peeps. Once again I find my posting here to be limited, but rest assured I read my flist daily and comment when and where I can. Really, rest assured! Sleep better tonight knowing that.

Moving on!

I have a novel coming out in April that I really like. It's sweet and fluffy and involves animals. Namely, a ferret named Karma and the man who belongs to her. I'm running a contest for the month of March to get ready for it, so hop on over HERE and enter away.

I'm excited for Daylight Saving time, but am in quite a bit of advance woe over the lost hour of sleep. It's just now beginning to get light when I wake up, so going back to getting up in the pitch black makes me want to find a little hole to cry in.

[info]carta gave me five things to elaborate on in my LJ. For her, I elaborate, but fortunately for you, I will not be paying it forward and telling other people what to elaborate on. If you want to elaborate all on your own, then you go with your bad self.

Tell me about California, being a big sister, rats as pets, manlove, ♥Christopher♥, and me. Ha ha ha, I'm just kidding about that last one. :D

1. California is my first true love, I think. There are palm trees in my backyard and snow-capped mountains visible from my front yard. I can get In N Out, Trader Joe's, and Wahoo's all in the same day. I can visit Disneyland and the San Diego Zoo in the same weekend. I saw Kobe Bryant last week at a restaurant. The beach is ten miles away. It's 70 degrees F outside right now, in February. Almost half of my state -- the most populated state in the US -- voted to save gay marriage. I'm in love with California.

2. Being a big sister was never cool until I got older. I used to make the :| face when my brothers called me that. Now when my baby brother introduces me to someone as "my big sister", I get all warm and squishy. My parents were never the type to leave child-rearing up to the oldest child, fortunately, so other than a few years of babysitting, I got to just be a sister to them and not a parent. I used to be kind of jealous that my brothers both got a brother AND a sister, and I was stuck with just brothers, but now I like it. Being the oldest and only girl makes me special in my family.

3. Rats as pets are the GREATEST. They're friendly and smart and curious and basically have a dog's brain in a teeny little body. The only issue I have with them is that their lifespan is woefully short. The three rats I have now were rescued from someone who didn't handle them as babies, so they're skittish, but still curious and friendly.

4. Manlove, sigh. Hot and sweet and wild and rough. Much more exciting for me to read/write about than hetlove. I participate in hetlove, duh. Therefore it becomes boring to read. :D (But not boring to do.)

5. Christopher. I saw him very briefly outside yesterday. He's a fourth grader now so his recess and lunchtime is different than mine, but I was walking my class somewhere and he was on the playground. I would have missed him entirely among the other billion fourth graders, but he called my name and when I looked, he waved. <3 I miss him a lot. Every year, I sort of look for a replacement Christopher, but so far no one's come along. They probably never will.

6. [info]carta is one of those people that will always, always be on every friend filter I have. You know what I mean? There are those people that are just a steady, calm influence in your life. Ames is like that for me. We've emailed each other about private issues, we've met in real life and hugged each other tight, and I would trust her with my most personal secrets. She's also one of the few women I would make out with, if I were so inclined. Meaning, not straight and not married. Haha.

holy smokes, where's february going
I said one of my non-resolutions would be to post more and haha, look at that, already broken. :| It's so much easier to post a one line status update on Facebook.

There is not even anything of note to post about, yet I am compelled. Um... buy my book? It's a good one. Carole from Rainbow Reviews said so, right HERE. We love Carole.

Uhhh... I have a new release in April that I'll be running a contest for in March. Watch for that, I'll post details here. It has a ferret. :D .... The book, not the contest.

Let's see. I'm not that invested yet in American Idol, although I've dutifully watched every episode. Including the ones with that horrible Tatiana person who needs to be locked in a room with a thousand women screeching at her like she screeches at everyone else. I was half-asleep last night when she performed, but she seemed much more reserved than usual. And then of course there's Danny. Hearts for Danny. <3

There are two pints of Ben & Jerry's in my freezer right now: Americone Dream and Creme Brulee. Little bits of waffle cone vs. caramelized sugar crystals. WHICH ONE TO EAT FIRST? Halp.

I want cheese. I want a new phone. I want a new computer. I want a new car. I want a million dollars.

newness
I think I've recovered enough from the amazingness that is the Pittsburgh Steelers to finally post this. MY GOD I have never been so invested in 48 seconds before.

I had a new release this weekend that I'm really excited about! The sequel to my best selling novel (and EPPIE finalist, woo) Tinder went on sale Saturday. Embers is a Single Shot and picks up where Chris and Morgan left off, except it seems that Morgan's got a little secret. When Chris finds out what it is, or thinks he does, things get slightly strained for the two of them. And by slightly, I mean a lot. Plus, both Tinder and Embers are available together in print under one cover HERE. Exciting, no?

I have talented people working for me. [info]buhfly slaved over a hot keyboard and made a beautiful website redesign which you can see HERE. And my dear [info]ozbrat did a lot of work and put together a book trailer for me. She managed to find a PERFECT picture of Chris, so for that (among other things) I will be eternally grateful. Check out the cuteness below, go buy Embers, and happy February. I have a Cadbury Caramel Egg.
